Join our Recycling & Upcycling Program in Ha Long City, Vietnam — where creativity meets impact and waste gets a second life. Work side-by-side with a local cooperative to collect, repurpose, and transform discarded materials like glass bottles, fabric scraps, tires, and advertising tarps into meaningful products such as tote bags, floor mats, hats, and chairs. From collecting materials to crafting finished products, you’ll be part of every step while discovering the power of circular living and helping build a cleaner, greener future for the local community.
Ha Long Bay may be famous for its breathtaking scenery, but the city is also facing growing environmental challenges caused by rapid urban growth and tourism. This program works closely with a women-led local cooperative that is creating real change through recycling, upcycling, and community-driven sustainability. Here, recycling is more than just managing waste — it’s about creating opportunity, dignity, and long-term impact. The project helps reduce landfill waste, supports fair employment for local women, raises environmental awareness, and contributes to scholarship funding for ethnic minority children living in Vietnam’s mountainous communities. You’ll work alongside the cooperative to collect, sort, clean, and creatively transform materials such as glass bottles, fabric scraps, tires, and advertising tarps into practical and artistic products including tote bags, mats, hats, and furniture. Every task is hands-on, meaningful, and directly connected to creating positive environmental impact. Throughout the experience, you’ll become part of a powerful model that combines sustainability, economic empowerment, and community development. Every product created tells a story — from a recycled bottle turned into décor to a tarp transformed into functional furniture. These creations represent resilience, creativity, and hope for a more sustainable future. As a participant, you’re not just observing change — you’re helping make it happen.
