Get ready to roll up your sleeves and be part of renovation projects that create real impact for local communities across Sri Lanka. From temples and schools to community centres, every hands-on task helps improve spaces people use every single day. Your effort becomes part of something bigger — supporting communities through meaningful work, connection and shared purpose.
The Construction and Renovation Program focuses on improving important community spaces that need care, repairs and restoration. Projects may take place in schools, pre-schools, community centres or Buddhist temples depending on what the local community needs most at that time. Through hands-on activities like painting, restoring artwork, simple renovations and improving shared spaces, you’ll help bring new life to places that play an important role in daily community life. Project locations are selected based on real-time community priorities and may change depending on seasonal weather conditions or local holidays. Final placements are confirmed closer to your start date after assessing the most urgent requests from the community. Once a project starts, the team is fully committed to completing it before handover. Volunteer numbers are carefully managed to keep projects running smoothly, reduce disruption and maximise positive impact for the community. This thoughtful and community-focused approach helps ensure sustainable results, respectful collaboration and meaningful contribution. Beyond the practical work, you’ll also experience local culture firsthand while becoming part of projects that continue benefiting the community long after your journey ends.
