About This Experience
Hidden in the mountains of Nagano, Otaki is a go-to nature escape for Japanese travelers—think hiking, canoeing, camping in summer, and snowy adventures in winter. While still off the international radar, the community is ready to welcome the world and share what makes this place special. In this program, you’ll intern across local tourism spots—restaurants, campsites, hotels—getting hands-on with daily operations while contributing to projects that shape the future of tourism in the area. Your role goes beyond daily tasks. You’ll support sustainable tourism, help preserve traditional crafts, and be part of protecting Otaki’s cultural identity. It’s real experience, real impact.
