If you care about the environment and want to experience it beyond the surface, this project is your chance to dive deeper. Rooted in strong cultural traditions and real, ongoing connections to nature, it’s more than just learning—it’s about being part of something meaningful. Here, the local community doesn’t see nature as something separate—it’s woven into everyday life. By joining them, you’re not just visiting; you’re building a genuine partnership, working side by side toward a shared purpose.
Bali might be famous for its lush jungles and dreamy landscapes—but behind the beauty, there’s a growing challenge. Rapid tourism and development have brought a surge of plastic waste, from water bottles to food packaging, slowly replacing the island’s traditional, eco-friendly ways like banana leaf wrapping. This is where you come in. In Balinese culture, nature isn’t separate—it’s part of everyday life. This program invites you to share that mindset with the next generation through fun, creative, and hands-on environmental education. Think less classroom, more action—getting kids outside, exploring nature, and learning by doing, together. Each morning, you’ll spend time designing engaging activities and campaigns, then head to local primary schools around Ubud in the afternoon to bring your ideas to life. It’s all about teamwork, creativity, and showing that even small actions can create real impact. Balinese people have long respected nature—way before sustainability became a global trend. A beautiful example is the Tumpek Uduh ceremony, where communities give thanks to trees, especially fruit-bearing ones and coconut palms. This tradition reflects: - Gratitude for how trees support both people and the planet - Recognition of their role in everyday life - A shared hope for balance between humans and nature Your teaching plans will be reviewed and refined together every Friday, keeping things fresh and impactful. And it’s not all work—after your sessions, unwind with fun, chill activities alongside fellow participants. Weekends? That’s your time to explore Bali’s iconic beaches, hidden gems, and cultural spots. We’ll be here to help you plan it all so you can make the most of every moment.
